Major Events at Eden
Big win for Eden Field Archers and the training programme in 08-09
Following our previously successful application for monies from the
Government's Active Clubs Fund to assist in our solar panel purchase
and installation, we applied again last year for assistance with
replacing the club's ageing stock of training equipment to cope with
burgeoning numbers of trainees. We were really pleasantly surprised
when we were granted $9500 to that end.
This has led to a lengthy process of tendering for purchase from
local suppliers, and a sequence of evaluations by the Committee of
tenders received, so that the money can be best spent and the time
and interests of the tenderers can be justified. We are purchasing a
number of compound bows suitable for training, a larger number of
recurves that will fit the needs of both adults and Juniors in
training, as well as a new stock of training arrows, arm guards, tabs
and stringers. Left handers and Juniors are catered for in the order
we are looking at.
Part of the grant was spent in the purchase and installation of a new
storage facility in the storeroom, and the new compactus will give us
lots of room for the new equipment in a more accessible form than the
old cupboard could do.
Along the track, we have been grateful for the hard work of members
on a variety of fronts to bring this project to fruition, and we know
that the beneficiaries will be the vast number of trainees who pass
through our coaching courses, with new, efficient, and well
maintained equipment at their disposal.
All up, a big win for Eden, and one that reflects the fact we are a
club moving forward, growing and catering for the wide range of
shooting needs and styles, and teaching and learning activities that
a big club possesses.
